Abstract: Interpreting the 21-cm signal from Cosmic Dawn requires accurate modeling of the Lyman-alpha background, yet most theoretical studies rely on ideal-gas assumptions and simplified treatments of multiple scattering. We present convergence tests of a Monte Carlo radiative transfer framework that directly follows Lyman-alpha photons in cosmological simulations, avoiding these approximations. By systematically varying numerical and physical parameters—resolution, photon statistics, propagation step length, stopping criteria, and box size—we identify the regimes where the simulated Lyman-alpha background is numerically stable. These results strengthen confidence in 21-cm signal predictions and provide a robust basis for extracting astrophysical and cosmological constraints from upcoming observations.
