The Astronomical Society of India (ASI) Symposium 007, jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and the Astronomical Society of India, will be held from 8th-10th December 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on the theme “The Next Decade of Solar Eclipse Science: Observations, Models, and Instrumentation.”
The symposium will bring together researchers and students working on solar eclipse observations, solar atmospheric and heliospheric physics, numerical and computational modelling, instrumentation, and related interdisciplinary areas.
The programme will feature invited and contributed talks, and brainstorming sessions focused on developing scientific goals and observational strategies for the forthcoming 2027 and 2028 total solar eclipses. Researchers and students are encouraged to submit abstracts and participate in the symposium to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore collaborations spanning observations, theory, modelling, and instrumentation.
The meeting will also include a special session on “Revisiting the Eddington Experiment,” adding a historical perspective to the broader scientific program.
