3rd Young Astrophysicists of Today’s India (YATI3) from 7-9 Oct 2025 at ICSP, Kolkata

We are delighted to announce the 3rd Young Astrophysicists of Today’s India (YATI3), to be held from 7 to 9 October 2025 at the Indian Centre for Space Physics (ICSP)’s integrated campus in Kolkata. This conference revives the spirit of the earlier YATI meetings organized in 1999 and 2001 under the leadership of Prof. Sandip K. Chakrabarti.

Prof. K. Kasturirangan (24 October 1940 – 25 April 2025) (L0119)

Very saddened to hear about the sad demise of Dr. K. Kasturirangan. He championed the cause of space science leading to its growth within India. He was an excellent mediator between scientists in the Academic Institutions on one hand and the Indian Space Research Organisation. He laid the foundation for the AstroSat project, the first multi-wavelength Indian Astronomy Space Observatory, by identifying key executives for initiating the payload development of AstroSat at various institutions of India. He supported the mission at every stage.

Conference on Challenges and Innovations in Computational Astrophysics VI (ChaICA - 6)

Challenges and Innovations in Computational Astrophysics VI, a hybrid meeting covering all areas of Computational Astrophysics. This is the 6th edition of the ChaICA series of meetings on computational astrophysics organised by IAU Commission B1: Computational Astrophysics. The meeting provides a forum especially for early-career researchers to present to their peers their work on computational algorithms, methods and new software projects.

Fast Radio Transients Sky (FTSky) meeting at ICTS from 6–17 Oct 2025

The Fast Radio Transient Sky (FTSky, https://www.icts.res.in/program/FTSky) 2025, a school-cum-conference, will be held from October 6–17, 2025, at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) in Bengaluru, India. During the school week (October 6–10), preference will be given to PhD students and postdoctoral fellows specialising in fast transients.

Statistical Techniques for Astronomy Research (STAR) School at VBO, Kavalur from 30 June - 5 July, 2025

Statistical Techniques for Astronomy Research (STAR) is a six-day workshop on astro-statistics for early-career PhD students in astronomy. The school is planned to be held at VBО, Kavalur, from June 30 to July 5, 2025. The objective of the school is to introduce students to modern statistical concepts, tools, and techniques as applied to research in astronomy and astrophysics. The program will include a series of lectures and hands-on activities.

MeerKAT Absorption Line Survey (MALS) third data release (DR3)

The third MALS data release, consisting of Galactic HI 21-cm line spectra of about 20,000 radio sources, is public now.  This represents the largest Galactic HI absorption line catalog to date.  The new catalog and accompanying scientific results of this study are described in Gupta et al. (2025), accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics.  The MALS catalogs and images are publicly available at https://mals.iucaa.in.
