Total lunar eclipse on 7th September 2025 (Sunday night) - from ASI POEC

Dear ASI Members,

We hope you are all looking forward with excitement to see the total lunar eclipse on Sunday night, the 7th of September. The last time all of India was able to witness a total lunar eclipse was in 2018, and the next time will be in 2028. Hopefully, despite the cloudy skies across much of the country during this time of the year, many of us will get a glimpse of this beautiful celestial spectacle. Here are a few things we wanted to share from the Public Outreach and Education Committee (POEC) in this context:

ICSP Silver Jubilee Volume

Symposium on the Scientific Legacy of Prof. J. V. Narlikar from 15-17 Sept, 2025 at Assam University, Silchar

The MeerKAT Absorption Line Survey (MALS) data now accessible by the Open Science Data Federation

The MeerKAT Absorption Line Survey (MALS), is excited to announce that all public data releases, including the calibrated visibility data from Data Release 2 (DR2) – which enabled the detection of nearly a million radio sources – are now mirrored on the Open Science Data Federation (OSDF) in the USA.
