ASI Symposium 006: Communicating Astronomy in India - 2026 (ASISCAI-26) from 22-24 January at IUCAA, Pune

The ASI Symposium 006: Communicating Astronomy in India - 2026 (ASI SCAI-26) will be held during 22-24 January at IUCAA, Pune. The Sympsosium is supported by the generous financial support as well as in-kind contributions of the ASI, IUCAA, IIA, ARIES, and NCRA-TIFR.

With 150 attendees and more than 170 other registered participants attending online, the ASI SCAI-26 will feature 8 plenary talks, 52 regular talks in 2 parallel sessions, 50 posters and 14 demonstrations.

Southern Regional Astronomy Meeting (RAM-XI)- Second Announcement and Registration Open

As detailed in the first announcement, the Center of Excellence in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Department of Physics and Electronics, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, and IUCAA, Pune, are organising a 3-day-long Southern Regional Astronomy Meeting (RAM-XI)- Research in Astronomy: Opportunities and Challenges from 5-7 February 2026. This meeting offers a valuable opportunity for regional researchers from the southern region of India to connect, exchange ideas, and showcase their work, thereby fostering a collaborative spirit within the community.

Prof. Naresh Dadhich (September 1, 1944 – November 6, 2025) (0293)

Professor Naresh Dadhich passed away, at the age of 81, on November 6, 2025 in Beijing while on an academic visit to China.  His sudden demise is a tragic loss to the scientific community, and to the very large number of people from diverse fields and professions, in India and in many other countries, who were his friends, colleagues and collaborators.  He worked mainly in general relativity and gravitation theory, and was one of the founders of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), where he was Director during 2003-2009.
